All councils have a duty to deliver pay equality for women and men. Councils must also report on equality commitments under the Best Value rules checked by Audit Scotland. The relevant public bodies knew about pay problems in Glasgow – the bonuses, the dodgy pay system and the non-payment of pensions. None of the agencies were willing to grapple with the costly injustice of Glasgow’s Workforce Pay and Benefits Review (WPBR). This “Equality Audit” lists the good and bad of pay equality at Glasgow and charts how Glasgow’s women exposed pay discrimination during the 10 year challenge to WPBR.
