UNISON Scotland Community SectorUNISON Members voted over Christmas on 2018/19 pay offer. The result was:-

66% rejected the offer
34% accepted the offer

UNISON members have therefore voted to reject the pay offer and UNISON will contact management to advise the result and request a further meeting.

We will keep you all informed as matters proceed!

***For ease of reference the main points of the pay offer as described by Capability Scotland were:-

We propose the following increases to current hourly rates for those employees on Grades 1, 2 and 3, with effect from 1 April 2018.

Grade Current Hourly Rate Proposed Hourly Rate
1 8.45 8.75
2 8.55 8.85
3 9.00 9.05

We also propose that the Sleepover Rate is increased to £8.75 per hour, again with effect from 1 April 2018.
We are unable to offer a pay award to employees on grades higher than Grade 3 due to the lack of funding to support the cost of such an award.

I hope that you will understand that our pay proposal is the best we can do on the basis of affordability. It is effective from 1 April 2018 and will be backdated to this date. If it can be agreed by 11 January 2019, then we will endeavour to ensure it is paid to staff with their January 2019 salaries.

As part of the proposal, Capability Scotland seeks to standardise the working week for all new employees at 39 hours per week for full-time Care staff and 37 hours for full-time non-Care staff (including admin and managers). Standardised hours for part-time staff would be on a pro-rata basis.
