This briefing outlines the next steps of our pay campaign. UNISON has formally requested that the Scottish government reopens discussions about pay this year. Our members’ survey told us that 87% agreed that there should be a pay award this year. UNISON are the only trade union/professional organisation who continue to support the re-opener clause.
Demonstrations will take place at 11.am on August 18th. Members will congregate (safely) outside workplaces and clap for 2 minutes to support UNISON’s demand for a pay rise this year.
The main demonstration will be at Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary. This will be broadcast live on Facebook for those who cannot safely attend events in person. Branches will contact members with details of workplace events. Members, their friends and family can show support via social media. Branches will provide materials for use on social media.
